The Motley Fool reports today that because of the quiet period surrounding the Google IPO, the company can't do the "major deals" and acquisitions it needs to expand services and continue rapid growth.
So Google is pushing hard to get the IPO done this month. The Fool thinks this is unlikely:
The expected auction process is still very sketchy. Try calling one of the participating brokers on the deal for information. You're likely not to get any useful information....
Other considerations include the red tape of the SEC and the complexities of the computer auction system. And Google will need to educate investors on the mechanics of the auction process; there will certainly be a learning curve....
So, considering August is a dead time for IPOs, expect the Google offering in September or October...
